The next Update of Apple's operating system will come into being officially next month at WWDC. However we already know enough data on it thanks to the first leaks and initial versions for developers. Apple announced Mac OS X 10.7 Lion as the Union between the magic of iPad and the stability of Mac OS X.
Apple will use Mac app store as the primary means of distribution of its future operating system. It will be available for all Macs to work on Snow Leopard. There is also a version in physical format, for those who do not have a great connection to the Internet.
The optical media have their days numbered as pendrives are taking ever more weight and as an example let popular netbooks, tablets and even MacBook Air, which we already have optical drives.
