This vulnerability does not only affect Windows, also to others such as Unix, Linux and Mac. was patched in all of them and it was assumed that it did not affect operating systems modern.
It is not known if the new bug is the same 'Ping of Death' and has been incorporated in any software development process or if it is a variant of the original.
